Aodh Ruadh pipped by Shamrocks for Ulster final

The under 14s were in action on Saturday when they travelled to Lissan in Fermanagh to take part in the Ulster Feile where we were competing in division four for the first time. We played Middletown from Armagh in the first game and after a ding dong battle we ran out four point winners. Our next opponents, Cuchulainns, were also from the Orchard county. The lads improved in this game and a great battling performance saw them run out winners by three points. We had now qualified to play Newry Shamrocks in the final game with the winners progressing to the division four final to be held in the Athletic Grounds, Armagh on 15th May. This was the boys poorest performance and the hard work of the two previous games in the sweltering heat took its toll on the lads. A late goal from the Down men put a gloss on the score line which read 2-3 to 0-2 in favour of the Down men. The lads know that they missed out by not taking their chances and putting in a greater effort. There is no doubt the lads will learn from it.

Many thanks to Eddie Lynch for the photographs.
