Aodh Ruadh go top of the table

McCormick's Sport and Leisure Division 1A
14 October 2006
Aodh Ruadh 1-5
Gaoth Dobhair 1-8
Sean Perry reports from MacCumhaill Park

Aodh Ruadh made it five consecutive victories and with it, to top position in division 1A of the all-county football league. Playing into a significant breeze in the first half, PJ McGowan's side trailed by two points at the break. Stephen McHugh and Michael Doherty were lively in attack for Anthony Molloy's charges, Brendan Boyle and Brian Roper were notable absentees through injury for their respective clubs.

Val Murray again underlined his ability and value as a placekicker to the Ballyshannon side, the full-forward was in fine form throughout.

Ardara looked to be holding out for victory or at least a draw but a late salvo from Aodh Ruadh saw Murray and Michael Gurn help themselves to points to record home and away wins over the same opposition this season.
